Ajustes

The cruelty of the cuts dismantles what sustains us and exposes the grotesque side of our society.
With the ‘Ajustes’ series, the artist explores contemporary forms of vulnerability in the face of austerity policies and the dismantling of collective protection systems: older people, people with disabilities and those who depend on public health and social care services, not to mention schools, which safeguard equality of opportunity.
Faced with sweeping cuts, whose violence is symbolized by the chainsaw, the series questions the fragility of the institutions that underpin the transmission of knowledge and social cohesion.
The reflection extends beyond the material: when the grotesque is legitimized by those in power, it spreads throughout society as a whole.
